[Post by the Tiny Teddies.] Today was the meeting of the Tiny Teddies Red Hat Society. We're called the Moline Mad Hatters. Once a month we get together for a great time, which always includes lots of food, fun and laughter. One thing that's required is that we all dress up in Red and Purple hats and accessories. That's because of a line in a poem that says, "When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple", and then the poem goes on to say a lot of other fun things that the lady wants to do when she gets old. It's a very funny poem. Here is part of the poem, by Jenny Joseph.
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

This photo of my 32 inch Steiff Teddy Bear Maximilian and his Vintage Steiff Tiger friend is Featured today at Webshots in Toys. Max is a lovely bear, very wise and full of love. His arms open wide in friendship to everyone, and we all rely on him for his strength and good advice. Max and the Tiger are remembering the fun they had in the garden last summer and are looking forward to the summer to come. Aren't we all?

[Post By Goldie] Dear Diary, Happy New Year, 2009! Wow, I thought it'd never get here. The old year has gone away and a New Year has come. I wonder what this year has in store for us. I hope there will be many more fun times ahead, and Carol Jean will be there to photograph them all. She has a lot of ideas for photo shoots, and we're always glad to help out. Tonight we had a lovely New Year's Eve party with our friends. We drank Root Beer and Pink Champagne and wore silly hats. I wore a red crown that really made me feel like Royalty. (It reminded me of the old commercials where someone would take a bite of bread with Imperial Margarine spread on it, and POP, suddenly a crown would pop onto their heads. That was so funny! Boy, it's been 30 years since I saw that commercial. Youngsters probably wouldn't even know what I'm taking about.) Well, we watched TV till midnight tonight and counted down as the crystal ball fell in Times Square. That's always so exciting. I love to see all the confetti flying through the air and everyone having such a good time. I wish I could go there myself some day for the celebration. That would be wonderful. Well, Dear Diary, I'm getting kind of sleepy now, so Good-Night. When I wake up, it will be 2009. I hope we have a great year. -Goldie-
