Here You Can See Why I Call Him Flat Bear.
I've named this sweet little bear Flat Bear, and here you can see why. He's 7 inches tall, 5 inches wide, less than two inches thick and not much bigger than the palm of my hand. He's made from what I believe is a cotton plush with most of the fur loved away. His nose and mouth are stitched with black thread, and he has two wooden shoe button eyes. The centers of the eyes are worn revealing the brown wood beneath the black paint. I wonder how this little bear got so flat? At first a small child could have slept with him, perhaps laying on top of the bear. Then as the child got older, maybe the bear spent his nights beneath a pillow, bringing sweet dreams. When the child was grown, perhaps the bear was carried as a lucky mascot in a pocket, purse or briefcase. Perhaps he was even carried inside a jacket, off to war. He was such a valuable companion to someone once. But then what happened? It makes me think of the song, "Puff The Magic Dragon" where the song says, "Dragons live forever, but not so little boys"... The little boys grow up and eventually go away. But here is his loyal teddy bear waiting for him forever more. ~Lovethemsteiff~
